The First Wind Experience
At First Wind, we believe fitness is for everyone and everything we do is based in personal experience. Our instructors and classes will push you past the obstacles that are holding you back to help you achieve your goals efficiently and effectively. We know that everyone's goals are different and your bodies are different too. Because of this, First Wind workouts are small, personalized, and crafted to include modifications for all levels.
Our FitCamp classes are high energy hybrid fitness classes that combine cardio and strength training. They are rhythmic workouts led to the beat. We introduce various cardio exercises like sprints, climbs, and intervals on our RealRyder bikes paired with complimentary floor exercises utilizing body weight, dumbbells, resistance bands, and more. Every class has its own focus and intention in order to deliver you the most impactful workout: Aerobic Endurance, HIIT, Muscular Endurance, and Muscular Strength/Power.

Originally from Vermont, Bethany’s been calling Charlotte home for the last 13 years. She’s Charlotte famous as DJ Little Betty and has a special love for people that is evident in everything she does. She takes special consideration in crafting her playlists to motivate and energize her classes. This lady loves mountain biking, running, and all things circuit.
Karen Hill Meyer
First Wind founder Karen has a passion for fitness that runs deep. As a heart patient, she struggled with fitness and physical activity prior to surgery in 2008. Since then, she’s been able to do more than she ever could and wants to share her love for moving and staying healthy with everyone through First Wind classes. She loves to run, play tennis and teach Ride Strong.
Liz came to Charlotte from Buffalo in 2016. She’s been an athlete most of her life and was a competitive springboard diver in high school and college. Liz loves motivating people to reach their full, unbridled potential. She found First Wind when she moved here, became a member, and our culture inspired her to pursue her dream of becoming a fitness instructor.
Lyn has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and has been a competitive martial artist, a dancer, and a coach. She believes the keys to success in making health and fitness a permanent part of your lifestyle are a positive mindset, the right kind of self-talk, and creating habits that stick. Lyn loves dancing, strength training, and RealRyder bikes.
This Asheville native and collegiate volleyball player came to Charlotte in 2014 and hasn't looked back. She is a huge advocate of being who you are and believes we should always strive to improve ourselves whether it's mentally, emotionally, or physically. She loves to hike, run, and camp with her black lab. Did we mention she LOVES Charlotte sports? #keeppounding
Where to Find Us
First Wind classes are held in The Space located in Plaza Midwood in the same building as Catawba Brewing Co. and Advent Coworking. Follow signs for The Space. Parking can be found in front of the building or across Louise Ave in the gravel lot.
